November 20, 2023 Meeting

The members of the Mālama ʻOhana Working Group (MOWG) would like to thank the community for joining the monthly meetings and enriching the discussion with their insight and experiences in the child welfare system. We encourage and welcome community participation and look forward to continue this work together. At the November meeting, the working group agreed to create the following Permitted Interaction Groups (PIGs):

1.  Keiki & ‘Ōpio (Children & Youth)

2.  Mākua & ‘Ohana (Parents & Family)

3.  Lawe Hānai (Caregivers)

4.  Hui Kaiāulu (Community Supports)

5.  Hui Hoʻopūlama (Systems Supports)

6.  Kanaka & Po‘e Pasifika (Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders)

For each PIG, the scope shall include investigation and discussion for the purpose of developing the Mālama ʻOhana Working Group’s report and recommendations, as described in Act 86 (SLH 2023). Further, that such investigation and discussion shall be limited to the topical area of the  respective Permitted Interaction Group. Note that all the mentioned Permitted Interaction Groups would be inclusive of Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, as they pertain to the scope.
